Join our property team as the National Development and Asset Manager!

Harvey Norman is an integrated retail and property company in which the property function compliments and supports the retail business. Harvey Norman’s Global property portfolio is valued at over $4.5B and growing.

This is a fulltime position, based in our Manukau Head Office.

As the National Development and Asset Manager you will manage Harvey Norman’s property interests through all phases of the property life cycle. This includes overseeing purchase/lease agreements along with leasehold and freehold asset management.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Manage all freehold and leasehold property transactions across New Zealand for Harvey Norman.
  • Lead and guide a team of skilled property professionals.
  • Identify and secure retail sites for development or acquisition to grow the brand.
  • Ensure all properties comply with building statutory requirements.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, landlords, and tenants. Collaborate with the Global Head of Property and contribute to the department's strategic direction.
  • Manage annual capital and operating budgets.
  • Oversee property portfolio revaluations in line with regulations and corporate policies.
  • Develop and implement short- and long-term portfolio strategies to optimize business operations and asset performance.
  • Develop and provide property solutions that support business development
  • Conduct market research to assess potential new store locations

Our ideal candidate will have the following attributes:

  • 10+ years commercial property experience in a corporate setting.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a high-performance environment
  • Property acquisition (Freehold & Leasehold) and Asset Management experience
  • Experience managing a large and diverse national property portfolio
  • Expertise in property contracts, leases, sales & purchase agreements, building contracts & negotiations.
  • Professional Accreditation (ie. PINZ, REINZ, RICS), desirable.
  • Understand property related financial analysis methodology – DCF, IRR, NPV analysis, desirable.
