We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Business Analyst to join our dynamic team in the retail sector. In this role, you will assist the 2IC – Harvey Norman Online in measuring various aspects of our online business and monitoring performance. You will provide both internal and external stakeholders with crucial visibility of key business metrics, helping to drive strategic decisions and improvements.

As a Business Analyst, you will be responsible for monitoring, managing, and manipulating data to draw actionable insights. You will develop and distribute regular and on-demand reports, ensuring data integrity and quality before submission to stakeholders. Your investigative skills will be essential in understanding current practices and identifying areas for improvement.

Responsibilities:

    • Assist the 2IC: Collaborate closely with the 2IC – Harvey Norman Online to measure and monitor the performance of the online business. This includes tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and providing analytical support to optimize online operations.
    • Provide Visibility of Key Business Metrics: Prepare and present reports that offer clear visibility of crucial business metrics to internal teams and external stakeholders. This involves creating dashboards and visualizations that effectively communicate data insights.
    • Data Monitoring and Management: Regularly monitor business data to ensure accuracy and relevance. Manage large datasets, ensuring that data is properly cleaned, organized, and maintained for analysis.
    • Manipulate and Analyse Data: Use advanced data manipulation techniques to extract meaningful insights from raw data. This includes identifying trends, patterns, and anomalies that can inform business decisions.
    • Develop and Distribute Reporting: Create regular and on-demand reports that provide comprehensive insights into business performance. Ensure these reports are tailored to the needs of different stakeholders and are distributed in a timely manner.
    • Ensure Data Integrity and Quality: Implement rigorous data validation processes to ensure the accuracy and quality of data before it is used in reports or submitted to stakeholders. This involves identifying and rectifying any discrepancies or errors in the data.
    • Investigate and Improve Practices: Conduct thorough investigations to understand current business practices and processes. Identify areas for improvement and recommend data-driven solutions to enhance business performance

What we require:

    • Relevant Degree: Hold a relevant degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Statistics, IT, or a related field. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for the role.
    • Experience: Have a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role, demonstrating your capability to perform the responsibilities outlined and apply your skills effectively in a real-world business context.
    • MS Excel and Power BI Skills: Demonstrate strong proficiency in MS Excel and Power BI, including the use of R script and DAX for data analysis and visualization. You should be capable of aggregating data, performing complex analyses, and designing effective visualizations.
    • SQL Query and Relational Database Knowledge: Possess working knowledge of SQL and relational databases. This includes writing and optimizing SQL queries to retrieve and analyse data from various database systems.
    • Passion for Data: Exhibit a genuine passion for data and a data-driven approach to problem-solving. You should have a keen interest in exploring data, uncovering insights, and using data to drive business decisions.
    • Data Mining Principles: Have a solid understanding of data mining principles, including predictive analytics and data mapping. Experience in collecting and integrating data from multiple sources, both on-premises and cloud-based, is essential.
    • Problem-Solving Attitude: Show a strong problem-solving attitude with the ability to perform under pressure. You should be capable of making quick decisions based on data insights and successfully managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Retail Business Understanding: Possess a good understanding of retail business operations, including key processes and metrics relevant to the retail industry. This knowledge will help you contextualize data insights and make meaningful recommendations.
    • Communication Skills: Exhibit excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with various business teams. You should be able to convey complex data insights in a clear and understandable manner.
